Skywalker, Meet Mickey Mouse

I wrote an opinion piece for MovieByte on the recent purchasing of Lucasfilm by Walt Disney. This is my first real stab at writing something like this, so I’d love to hear your thoughts about it – especially if you’re a Star Wars nerd.

When the news broke yesterday that George Lucas was passing off the Star Wars baton (or should I say, lightsaber) to Disney, I didn’t know what to think. I still don’t.

Star Wars Day?


Apparently today – May 4th – is “Star Wars Day”. Says Wikipedia, it’s an “unofficial holiday by Star Wars fans to celebrate Star Wars culture and remember the films”. Now, I’m no big fan of George Lucas or his smash-hit trilogy; if I had my druthers, it’d be “Lord of the Rings Day”. But in keeping with the holiday spirit, allow me to leave you with this video and a few choice words: “May the fourth be with you.”
