Flotsam & Jetsam 12/22

Man Against World – I’ve mentioned this blog before (in previous F&Js) but I figure now is as good a time as any to issue a public service announcement: go follow Man Against World. I’m speaking specifically to any young men who might be reading this. At present, M.A.G. is pretty much a one man show, but the goal is to turn it into an all-encompassing webzine for Christian young men. Subscribe and give it support – you won’t regret it.

Film Dissectors – Click here to read my in-depth review of Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows (2011). Click here to read Caroline’s review of Breaking Dawn, Part 1 (2011).

The Hobbit – The very first official trailer for Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit hit the web Tuesday night. Check it out… it looks awesome.

Book Review: Timeline – An excellent review by Michael Wright.

Book Giveaway – Becky Pliego is giving away a copy of Putting Jesus In His Place: the Case for the Deity of Christ. Go enter yourself and tell others about it – the winner will be announced this Saturday, Dec. 24th.

No Sex Please, I’m British – Carl Truman hits the ball out of the park with this one: “A friend asked me this week about the current trend among some pastors for referring to sexual matters in graphic detail in books and sermons. Having been rightly rebuked by my wife once for using the phrase ‘pole dancer’ when preaching on 1 Corinthians 1 to a congregation containing children, I am now very circumspect when such matters arise. Here are my further thoughts on yet another of the many trends in modern neo-Reformed circles with which I have little patience.”

Confessions Of A Writer – A funny post from friend and fellow blogger Abby.

Another Book Giveaway – In honor of Denise Sproul, my Mom is giving away a copy of her book Tending Your Garden. Enter your name for the drawing – the giveaway ends January 6th, 2012.

  1. Carl Trueman did an awesome job with that post. The Man Against World site is great, too, and Moses seems like a humble, God-fearing young man.

Thanks for sharing other great links, too! Love you, son!

  2. Thanks for the link to “The Hobbit” trailer. It really does look good! I hope they stick to the book better than they did with “The Lord of the Rings”. :D

I really like that “Carol of the Bells” you posted in your last post too! :)

To the KING be all the glory!
