Flotsam & Jetsam (10/5)

An earlier-than-usual F&J, since I’ll be posting the winner of the One Year Giveaway tomorrow…

Steve Jobs, 1955-2011 – The co-founder, chairman, and former chief executive of Apple, Inc., passed away today after a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer.

A Review and a Giveaway – This month, Persis is giving away two copies of Dan Phillip’s The World-Tilting Gospel. Awesome, right? The winners will be drawn on October 12, so hop on over to her blog and enter without further delay.

More Than Conquerers – Gregg shares a great quote from Dr. Martin Lloyd Jones.

Master’s Handiwork Photography -A friend of mine was kind enough to give my movie review site a shout-out on her blog, so I’m gonna return the favor by asking you to hop over to her photography blog and take a look. And while you’re there, why don’t you let her know what picture she should use for her blog button? (pssst, pick #1, pick #1!)

Cook Book Fail – Funny stuff. And when you’re done laughing at it, here’s another one. (HT Dan Phillips)

Reel Quick – Click here to read my review of the excellent drama/comedy
Win Win (2010), starring Paul Giamatti. Highly recommended.

Hitler Killed Disabled Children – … and so do we.

“A wise saying is something you keep picking up off the
floor in front of your fridge.” ~ Robert Brault

  1. Yeah, the children one was very sad. I thought it was a good idea to tie it into Hitler. Maybe people will wake up to the fact that that is what we are doing. Just using a different term for it.

    The cookbooks were cute!

  2. Haha! Thanks for giving Becca’s blog a little publicity! And I’d have to agree… #1 is pretty good!! :)

Oh goodness… the one about Hitler just made my stomach turn. I wanted to scream at the computer. That is really, really sad! They just don’t get it. IT IS A LIFE IN THE WOMB!!! NOT SOME LITTLE THINGY THAT DOESN’T MATTER!!!! Of course, this is an amazingly truthful quote- “All the people I know that are for abortion are alive….” Ok, don’t know if I got it exactly correct, but still the point is made.

Thanks for sharing these! The cookbooks were pretty cute. :)

    1. One good turn deserves another, right? :D

I like that quote. Pretty ironic and sad, if you think about it. “I was given the gift of life… but I don’t want that baby over there to have it.”

  3. Thanks for linking to the giveaway.

I don’t know if Steve Jobs was a believer, which makes his passing even sadder. You can be a computer and business genius but it’s all for naught without Christ.

  4. Great links and I voted for #1 because it is the best, lol. The last article is powerful. We’re not the same as Hitler when we endorse and allow the killing of healthy babies. We’re worse.
