“But words are things, and a drop of ink,
falling like dew upon a thought, produces that
which makes thousands, perhaps millions, think.”
~ Lord Byron
I am first and foremost a sinner saved by grace alone, and my chief aim in all of life is to bring honor and glory to my God, working to extend His Kingdom here on earth with every fiber of my being. I’m seventeen, and a lover of books, movies, music, Science Fiction, Reformed theology, logic, history, guns, and the great outdoors. And Italian food.
I am also an aspiring writer – or “ink slinger” – and love exploring the endless possibilities of the English language. I’m the type who will sit down and read a grammar book from cover to cover… and enjoy every minute of it. I blog here at the Ink Slinger, as well as at the movie review site Reel Quick. I also contribute to The Film Dissectors and write reviews for Into the Book.
I love to read. Period. And that’s still probably an understatement. I enjoy the works of C.H. Spurgeon, C.S. Lewis, and anything by J.C. Ryle . Stephen Ambrose’s Band of Brothers is a favorite of mine, as are Mark Steyn’s America Alone and After America.
Fiction-wise, my bookshelf is home to J.R.R. Tolkien, Fyodor Dostoevsky, John Buchan, P.G. Wodehouse, and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Markus Zusak’s The Book Thief, George Orwell’s Animal Farm, and Suzanne Collins’ The Hunger Games trilogy are numbered among my favorites. I also love the works of Ray Bradbury (especially Fahrenheit 451) and Cormac McCarthy – I believe The Road to be one of the greatest novels ever written.
Music is something else I greatly enjoy. I love instrumental piano, but my favorite genres are probably classical and film music – especially Hans Zimmer, John Powell, James Newton Howard, and John Williams. I also enjoy listening to old hymns and a small selection of more contemporary Christian music, such as the work of Keith Green, Andrew Peterson, and Josh Garrels. Shai Linne is awesome. And so is Celtic, for that matter.
